Before a student can be admitted, he must understand what precisely the priesthood is all about.  Then, he must apply to the Bishop of his Diocese through the Vocations Director if he has the basic academic qualifications for tertiary education in the country.   The Bishop could give his approval and recommendation after he is duly satisfied that the candidate has the right motive and conception of the priesthood and has, also, adequate physical, intellectual, psychological and spiritual values which the Seminary can build upon. 


Candidates for admission as Seminarians must possess the following:

i.    At least, five Ordinary Level Credit Pass in WASC (WAEC), SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least five merit-level passes in the Teachers' Grade II (TC II) examinations.  The subjects should include English Language and any two other subjects from the Arts of the Social Sciences, at not more than two sittings.  A Pass in Mathematics is a minimum, requirement.  

ii.        Any other qualifications deemed equivalent to the above by the Seminary Academic Council.

iii.        Medical Certificate of physical and mental fitness.

In addition to the above, the admission of applicants who do not belong to Dioceses of Lagos Ibadan and Benin City Ecclesiastical Provinces requires the approval of both the Episcopal Seminaries Commission and the Academic Council of the Seminary.
